Clapton Orient 1 v 2 Chelsea
19 September 1925
Turnbull Wins The Day
Played in front of 15,538 fans at the home of Clapton Orient it was Chelsea who returned home to Stamford Bridge with the two points thanks to a brace from Bob Turnbull. Former England international and twice a Hammer, Danny Shea, now in the twilight of his career, grabbed a consolation for the home side.
In the quite beautiful colourised image above, taken from a periodical of the time, we see the Blues goalkeeper Howard Baker repelling a Clapton Orient attack.
Clapton Orient, would, in due course, become the team we know today as; Leyton Orient.
